On HBO’s “Real Time” broadcast Friday, host Bill Maher said voters who don’t talk about democracy and instead worry about the cost of living “need to be slapped on the head.” The issue of democracy is equally important. He also argued that in addition to economic issues, people are also “concerned about democracy.”
The panel discussion discussed whether former President Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, would step down at the end of his second term if he wins in 2024. ‘s Kellyanne Conway wondered why it had become a topic of discussion.
Maher responded, “Why are we talking about whether elections matter in America?”
Conway said, “I’ve been a pollster for decades, and I’m a fully recovered lawyer, and I’m happy about that. My job is the prism of the people. People don’t talk about it. Hmm, Bill, they’re honestly talking about bacon and eggs, insurance, utilities, trying to cover their daily expenses.
Mr. Maher interjected: [important]. People care about democracy, and they do, but probably not in the circles you belong to. ”
