Local, state and federal investigations are underway into a tragic incident in New Mexico in which two women were murdered, a 5-year-old child shot and a 10-month-old infant reportedly kidnapped.
At approximately 4:26 p.m. on May 3, police received a report of two injured women at Ned Hawk Park in Clovis, New Mexico. The two women died from gunshot wounds at the crime scene near a silver Dodge minivan, police said.
A 5-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the head was also allegedly found at the crime scene. She said the girl was rushed to the local Plains Regional Medical Center. The girl was then taken to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
Clovis Police Department Deputy Chief Trevor Thron said the 5-year-old girl was treated and is recovering.
An infant car seat, infant stroller and small baby bottle were left behind at the crime scene.
A 10-month-old baby was also allegedly stolen from the scene of the murder. Authorities named the infant Eleia Maria Torres.
Police issued an Amber Alert for the baby on Friday.
Officials say the baby has brown eyes, brown hair, is 28 inches tall and weighs 23 pounds.
Police identified the two women, both from Texico, as Samantha Cisneros, 23, and Taryn Allen, 23.
Investigators believe Cisneros is the mother of the abducted 10-month-old and injured 5-year-old.
ABC News “The identity of the suspect is currently unknown, but authorities said he may be driving a maroon Honda vehicle of unknown model.”
Clovis Police Chief Roy Rice said Sunday: “We need to show our community support. There have been many tragic events and many people have been affected and sacrificed. We are here to help them.” ”
