Former Michigan State football star linebacker Obi Eze has died at just 36 years old, his mother announced on social media Sunday.
“Only mine! My Obi. My #2. My heart. My father’s heart. My silent giant!” his mother, Nkeshi, posted on Facebook. “I am the grandson of the elephant. May you journey well towards your Creator. Eze, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs 244 pounds, appeared in 50 games at the University of Michigan from 2006 to 2010, according to . detroit free press.
He was an All-American as a freshman in 2007 and earned All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2008.
Eze finished his college career with 293 tackles, three sacks, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and eight pass breakups. He also had nine games in which he recorded 10 or more tackles.
