It may not have counted yet, but on Thursday night before the regular season, after the Indiana Fever defeated the Atlanta Dream 83-80 in the final preseason game, Caitlin Clark wondered how winning in the WNBA would be. I know what it feels like.

On Monday night, the Fever couldn’t beat the Dallas Wings, with Clark scoring 21 points in a 79-76 loss. She struggled with her shot in this match, but the Fever held off the Dream and got a feel for her first win of the year.

Clark finished with 12 points in 32 minutes, making just 4 of 12 from the field and 2 of 9 from 3-point range. She also showed off her passing skills by recording eight rebounds and collecting six assists.

Defensively, Clark was also stifling, blocking Crystal Dangerfield’s shot with a well-timed jump and slam.

Clark may want to get his shot back, but he showed off his usual 3-point bomb. She hit a single from deep to her right field to give the Fever a 68-60 lead over the Dream.

Clark then capitalized on a strong screen from teammate Nalyssa Smith for a step-back 3-pointer to narrow the Dream’s lead early in the second quarter.

Smith was the Fever’s leading scorer, scoring 21 points on 9 of 16 shots in 30 minutes. She got several assists from Clark, including a touch pass from Clark that went over the defender for a nice transition bucket.

Fever 2023 No. 1 overall pick Aliyah Boston dropped 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, and Katie Lou Samuelson dropped 11 points.
