President Joe Biden’s decision to open Obamacare coverage to undocumented immigrants enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is “not only unjust, it’s hurting millions of Americans. is economically unsustainable for the United States,” Senate Republicans said.
Last week, the Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a final rule opening Obamacare to DACA illegal aliens, even though about 25 million Americans are uninsured. The plan had been advocated for years by Health Department Secretary Xavier Becerra.
The plan is expected to cost U.S. taxpayers about $300 million annually.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), and Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) are Mr. Becerra. In a letter to , it said the plan was “unsustainable” for workers and the middle class. American class.
“As our nation endures record numbers of illegal immigrants crossing our southern border, this announcement sends a clear message: Solving a fabricated border crisis is the last thing the Biden administration wants to do.” they said. write:
In the Biden administration’s economy, job growth is slowing while inflation is rising. Unemployment is at its highest level in two years, and foreign-born workers are flooding into the workforce. Struggling American taxpayers are already burdened with paying for housing and welfare for illegal immigrants. And now, with this false rule, President Biden is asking fellow hard-working, tax-paying Americans to help pay for the health care costs of illegal immigrants. This new policy is not only unjust, it is economically unsustainable for millions of Americans. [Emphasis added]
In announcing the rule, President Biden claims to be a champion for immigrant children. But on your watch, this administration has actually led to the disappearance of more than 85,000 migrant children, many of whom have been trafficked and exposed to dangerous and exploitative conditions. Based on your previous Congressional testimony, it is clear that you have no interest in locating these innocent children. Rather, your main priority, as evidenced by the announcement of providing health care to migrants, is to distract from President Biden’s national security and humanitarian crisis unfolding at the border. When America’s borders are open and people’s wallets are hurting, the last thing this administration should do is offer free health care to immigrants. The American people deserve answers for these disastrous policies. [Emphasis added]
By May 15, the senators will ask Becerra how many DACA illegal aliens will be allowed to enroll in Obamacare, what it will cost if all DACA illegal aliens enroll, and whether such an Obamacare plan will allow illegal aliens to enroll in Obamacare. The government is asking for details, including whether it also applies to relatives of those who have passed away.
The senators also asked Becerra whether HHS intends to provide Obamacare to the “nearly 10 million illegal immigrants who are not participating in the DACA program and are flooding across the border.”
Chris Conover, formerly of Duke University’s Center for Health Policy and Inequality Research, estimates that U.S. taxpayers are already forced to subsidize the medical costs of illegal aliens living in the U.S. by at least $18.5 billion a year.
