The state senator told One Nation host Brian Kilmeade on Saturday that he comes from an area of ”down-to-earth” and “hard-working people”.
“They don’t want the government to jump on your back and tell you what to do and make things difficult for you. They believe in freedom and democracy,” he said. “They believe in all of that. They believe in lending a helping hand, but they also believe that sometimes you should sit down and do something.”
He rejected the idea of becoming a “Washington Democratic Party” and expressed concern about the direction of both parties.
“The parties have become so extreme that we have to somehow revive the old party, make it the big party again, and hold the Democratic Party accountable again,” he said. “I think we’re both lost and just listening to our own chatter here in Washington, but none of it makes any sense. This is not how we live our lives.”

Manchin said he has talked with President Biden about the direction the country is taking.
“I told the president, ‘You have to be careful,'” he said. “A lot of these bills, a lot of directives, executive orders, people of my generation and yours are basically what John Kennedy was asking, asking what your country can do for you. The senator also addressed the country’s response to the Israel-Hamas war and the “misinformation” that led citizens to declare “loyalty and support for terrorist organizations like Hamas.”
