MLB hypes up Livvy Dunne entering her ‘WAG era’

Major League Baseball seemed as excited to welcome Libby Dunn to the big leagues as she was to have her boyfriend Paul Skeens make his MLB debut.

The Pirates prospect was called up for his first start in the majors on Saturday and pitched four innings, giving up six hits and three runs, with two walks and seven strikeouts.

The MLB TikTok account posted a clip of Dunn’s interview on Sportsnet Pittsburgh on Saturday with the caption, “Libby Dunn enters the MLB WAG era.”

Of course, Dan is an outstanding athlete in her own right, serving as a member of the LSU gymnastics team as one of the best NIL earners in all of college sports.

Skeens, the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft, also played at LSU.

“As I always say, it’s a lot harder to watch in the stands because you’re not in control,” Dunn said in a video posted by MLB. “I don’t have control. I don’t know how to throw a 160 mph fastball, but it’s hard not to have control. Especially gymnastics, just watching. But I know he’s got it. And I have a lot of confidence in him.”

Skeens, 21, struck out the first two batters he faced and hit a top speed of 162 mph.

Through 84 pitches, his fastball reached over 99.6 mph 27 times and over 160 mph 17 times.

This season, he started seven games for Triple-A Indianapolis, pitching 27 1/3 innings with 45 strikeouts and a 0.99 ERA.

“I have so many great memories with him, and I know how hard he worked for this moment,” Dunn said in an interview. “Really, nothing could top this. I’m really proud.”

Dunn, 21, just finished national championships with the LSU gymnastics team last month.

Dunn will graduate this year, but has not yet decided whether he will use his fifth year of qualification, which was granted to him due to the coronavirus pandemic.
