‘Kick The F*cking Door Down’: Kamala Raises Eyebrows With Intense Advice For Young People

Vice President Kamala Harris made headlines Monday when she hurled profanity during a heated moment at the Asian Pacific American Congressional Institute Summit.

Harris attended the APAICS Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., touting her abortion access and “gun violence prevention” efforts. Harris spoke to attendees about “breaking down barriers” and said that while opportunities are sometimes given to individuals, there are times when you need to “kick down a door.” (Related: Where is Kamala Harris? “And I especially want to say to the young people here, when you walk in the room, the only person who looks like you, the only person with your background, you stretch your jaw and Walk into those rooms with your shoulders down.” It will be a conference room, boardroom, courtroom, and hearing room. You walk in those rooms knowing that we’re all in that room with you. We applaud you and expect certain things from you. Including not being silent in that room,” Harris began, answering questions about his role as the first Asian American vice president.

The vice president went on to reiterate the advice she was given about standing up for yourself and letting people know who you are throughout your life.

“That’s part of the problem is that you have to be aware that sometimes people will open the door for you and hold it open for you. Sometimes they won’t. And that We need to kick that fucking door down,” Harris said, to cheers and applause.
