Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said Tuesday on FOX News Channel’s “The Story” that former President Donald Trump’s New York City business records trial was “a sham,” and on Monday, ” He said he went “to support a friend.”
“I was there to support my friend,” Vance said. “Aside from the political implications of this trial, and we’re sure to find out about that, I’ve spent five or six weeks of my life knowing that I was innocent.” I think it’s very depressing to go through this. And Donald Trump knew he would be. So he was aware that it can be a little lonely to stand there alone. So I offered to go into court and maybe be a friendly face in court because that’s all I wanted to do and I actually like what the president stands for. I think you’re seeing so many people coming out to show their support for the president, this trial is pathetic, and I think they want to support their friend as well. I think it could be great.”
Presenter Martha McCallum said: “Some of the morning shows were going after you very hard.”
“J.D. Vance is a United States Marine for honor, and honor is everything,” MSNBC’s Willie Geist said. And it’s just so sad to see them histrionically furious on behalf of someone who wants to be vice president, want to shut down power, etc. ”
Mr McCallum asked: “What do you say to them about the charges?”
Vance said, “I think they live in their own bubble and the people who don’t agree with them don’t agree with them for some nefarious reason. It’s not because he thinks all his guests are idiots.” And that’s really what’s happening here, Martha. Actually, I think these incidents are bogus. This is especially the case in New York. ”
It added: “We have a judge presiding over the trial, and his daughter has raised millions of dollars for Democratic causes. So this is patently ridiculous, whether it’s a guilty verdict or an acquittal.” Regardless, I think the American people think this is a lie and a given.”
