Jimmy Carter ‘coming to the end,’ grandson says

Former President Jimmy Carter is “nearing the end,” his grandson solemnly announced Tuesday.

Speaking at the 28th Annual Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum, Jason Carter said he recently visited with the oldest living former commander-in-chief.

“People ask how you are,” Jason Carter told a crowd watching an Atlanta Braves game on television.

“And I say, “I don’t know.” And he says, “Well, I don’t know either.”

Jason Carter, president of the Carter Center, was speaking Tuesday about the importance of the global charity’s work, when suddenly the conversation turned to personal reminiscences about his grandparents.

Jimmy Carter, 99, has been living in hospice care at his home in Georgia since February 2023. His wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, also participated in her end-of-life care until her death in November.

Jason Carter says the 39th president of the United States appears to be considering the situation well, but he is nearing the end of his journey.

Jason Carter said he recently visited Jimmy Carter, who has been living in hospice care for nearly a year and a half.

“My grandfather is doing well. As you know, he’s been in hospice for almost a year and a half,” Jason Carter said.

“I think he’s really coming to the end. As I said before, there are parts of this faith journey that are very important to him, and that journey of faith includes There’s a part of me that can only live in that space.”I think he was in that space until the very end. ”

This isn’t the first time Jason Carter has made creepy comments.

In November, before Rosalyn’s funeral, her grandfather speculated that she was “nearing the end.”

The grandson even pointed out that Jimmy Carter was “very physically weakened” at the time, as evidenced by his frail condition during the service.
