Populist Dutch political leader Geert Wilders of the Netherlands’ anti-Muslim Immigration Freedom Party formed a right-wing coalition government on Wednesday, sending shockwaves through Europe’s political establishment.

Thomas Corbett Dillon, a political commentator and former adviser to conservative former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, told Fox News Digital: “With the EU election just weeks away, liberal elites are in complete panic. A shift to the right is inevitable across Europe.

“This change is being led by young people who have seen left-wing authoritarians destroy lives during the coronavirus pandemic, consistently suppress national pride, and invite the Third World into Europe,” he said. But they can’t find jobs, so let’s let them do it.” Just enough money to buy a house. ”

Corbett Dillon said: “Right-wing parties are on the rise across Europe. Look at Ireland, Sweden, France, Hungary, Italy…the list goes on and on. European nationals are clear. No more immigration. “We don’t need more Islamization, we don’t need more green agendas,” he added. Enough. Do you remember those who today rose to victory, blockading the capital? ”

Measures targeting migrants were a key element of the “Hope, Courage, Pride” pact formed by the four Dutch political parties. The 26-page document states: “We will deport people who do not have a valid residence permit as forcefully as possible.”

“We are writing history today,” Wilders declared, confirming that the other three coalition parties, including outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s party, accepted the core of his plan. “The sun will shine again in the Netherlands,” Wilders said. “This is the strongest asylum policy in history.”

The Hope, Courage and Pride agreement abolishes refugee family reunification and seeks to reduce the number of international students studying in the country.

Mr Wilders will not serve as prime minister in the new government. But he said: “My party will be at the center of power. We are very proud of that.”

Wilders surprised mainstream European parties by winning 25% of the national vote in November’s European elections.

Why Ireland is boiling over mass immigration

Alan Mendoza, executive director of the London-based Henry Jackson Society, told Fox News Digital that the decision “suggests that mainstream political parties in the Netherlands have abandoned efforts to prevent a populist takeover.” “The formation of this particular government is very important.” And while we will now respect their vote share, this is transformative across Europe given the changing political mood within the EU and voters’ concerns are real. It reflects the political class finally accepting that it must respond. ”

“It remains to be seen whether we can bring about real change in the areas of immigration and Islamic extremism,” said Mendoza, who closely monitors European politics. “There is a long history of thwarting attempts by those involved.” The key is to adopt common sense policies in both areas. ”

Mr. Wilders has backed away from some of his more extreme positions, including banning the Koran and mosques. He also withdrew support for the Netherlands’ plan to leave the European Union, known as “Nexit” after Britain’s departure from the European Union.

Wilders, the so-called “Dutch Donald Trump,” has now become a central figure in Dutch politics, a Scandinavian country with a population of about 18 million. Wilders’ party, along with the other three factions of the coalition, is also considering “the right time” to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Israel’s capital.

Wilder’s party formed a coalition with the conservative-liberal VVD, the centrist New Social Contract, and the Peasant and Citizen Movement (BBB). In the agreement, the Union announced that it would “submit opt-out provisions for European asylum and migration policy to the European Commission as soon as possible”.

according to London Times reportingTimmermans, a former EU commissioner, said the Netherlands would bring about “the dominance of radical right-wing parties” and that “Mr. Wilders will be in the center of power. I think that is very worrying.”

“A country in dire need of reconciliation and bridge-building is about to place in power a man who has been divided for 20 years,” Timmermans said.
