Sen. Fetterman hits back at AOC’s suggestion he’s a bully after House clash: ‘That’s absurd’

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) on Sunday fired back at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after she compared the House to “The Jerry Springer Show” and suggested she was a bully.

“Oh, of course that’s absurd. I was simply reacting to this kind of confusion and everything Congressman Greene started. And all the members of the committee reacted to what they produced. If they’re proud, if they feel like they have a right to an opinion, or if they feel like this is the kind of video they want to send into the classrooms of eighth-grade civics students across the country. They have a right to be heard,” Fetterman said in response to CNN’s Jake Tapper. “That’s their choice.”

Following a clash between Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Fetterman quipped Thursday that the House was worse than “The Jerry Springer Show.”

Ocasio-Cortez hit back at Fetterman, writing on social media: “I stand up to bullies, not being a bully.”

“I understand that you probably weren’t going to defend your colleague, and that you seem confused that racism and misogyny are ‘both’ issues,” Ocasio-Cortez said. he wrote.

The House Oversight Committee convened Thursday night and charged Attorney General Merrick Garland with contempt for failing to respond to a subpoena to hand over audio recordings of President Biden’s meeting with the special counsel.

But the hearing quickly spiraled out of control. Less than an hour after the hearing began, Greene opened fire on her Democratic colleague, Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas.

“Do you know what we’re here for?” Mr. Crockett asked Mr. Green, but Mr. Green retorted. “I think your false eyelashes are ruining what you’re reading.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer appealed for order as groans could be heard in the chamber.

Ocasio-Cortez weighed in as well, saying, “I have a point of order and I want to move to retract Ms. Greene’s words. That is absolutely unacceptable. Attacking someone else’s appearance is just… Let’s push down the words.

“Are your feelings hurt?” Green asked.

“Oh, girl, girl!” Ocasio-Cortez fired back. “Don’t play!”
