Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) said Sunday on MSNBC’s “Belsi” that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) took the jab during a House Oversight Committee hearing earlier this week. “The hit dog yelled,” he said.
Crockett said: We are always told that we have to play within the system and make the system work. This is another example of how the system doesn’t really understand what it’s like when it comes to seeking justice for people who look like me. And make no mistake, she is a so-called person of character and therefore her word should have been defeated and therefore she should have been kicked out of the committee for the rest of the night. But no, the Chairman was not. The idea that I should sit there and pretend I’m on a plantation, and that since we’re both not officially elected representatives, I should just accept it. I did not launch any new personal attacks against her. When I asked for an explanation, the killer dog yelled. ”
She continued, “I’m also going to use this as an opportunity to be flexible again about MAGA and let them know that I’m always smarter than you and you can call me a DEI hire all you want. You can start all the continuous insults you want against me, but when it comes to intelligence she is no match for me. ”
Crockett further added, “I refuse to be anyone’s doormat. And if anyone suggests that I should, look in the mirror and say whatever she wants to say to me.” Check with yourself if you think it’s okay to do that, and if my role is to say, “Oh, okay, she didn’t mean it.” I know that, or it wasn’t that bad, or it’s more important that I just sit here and be obedient.” That’s not who I’m meant to be. ”
