Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) is calling on federal leaders to declassify all documents related to Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), and says federal agencies will have to pay millions of dollars. They argue that if funding is to be provided, it must be transparent.
Mr. Burchett, a member of the House Oversight Committee, introduced the following: UAP Transparency Act last week. This legislation requires the President of the United States to direct all federal agencies and departments to make all documents related to UAPs available to the public within 270 days. It would also require the president to submit quarterly reports to the House of Representatives on the agency’s progress toward declassifying these records.
“Many departments of our federal government are telling us: [UAPs] It doesn’t exist and yet it still receives tens of millions of dollars in funding,” Burchett said Monday. news nations “NewsNation’s The Hill” “And our Department of Defense, which has literally never passed an audit in the history of audits, cannot account for more than $5 trillion.”
The Pentagon last year failed its annual audit for the sixth year in a row, with auditors determining they could not account for half of its assets.
“Right now, we’re spending this money on something. Our debt is $35 trillion…Every 100 days, we add another $1 trillion to the deficit,” Burchett added. Ta. “Look, this isn’t about little green men and flying saucers. It’s about what are we spending this damn money on? That’s ridiculous.”
The Tennessee Republican pointed to reports from “qualified persons” and anecdotes he heard from a former admiral about possible UAP sightings, saying that once declassified, the public could draw their own conclusions about the information. I insisted that I could.
“Tell me what it is and we don’t care,” he said, later adding, “What this universe is trying to say is that this universe is much more than we believe.” We’re just a grain of sand on the planet’s million beaches, let us decide. ”
Mr. Burchett said the unmanned flights have been reported since three former Pentagon officials testified at a House hearing in July about their experiences with the phenomenon, warning that sightings could pose a national security risk. He has been a vocal advocate for greater transparency regarding equipment.
Burchett, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), and Rep. Eric Burleson (R-Missouri). ) – a group that calls itself the UAP Caucus – has vowed to increase transparency on the subject.
