The child care worker at the Stockport nursery school where Genevieve Meehan was murdered has been charged with four counts of child neglect.
Rebecca Gregory was indicted on unrelated charges related to the death of 9-month-old Genevieve, which allegedly occurred in April 2022. She is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on August 5 to give her plea.
The 25-year-old worked at Tiny Toes Nursery School. Kate Lafley was found guilty on Monday of manslaughter in Genevieve’s death.
Prosecutors said during a four-week trial that Loughley denied killing the 9-month-old infant, who was tied face down in a bean bag for 97 minutes and suffocated as “punishment” for not sleeping well. .
Gregory was seen on surveillance footage from Tiny Toes, who was working as a childcare worker in the courtroom. But Greater Manchester Police said the charges were not linked to Genevieve, who died at the nursery in May 2022.
On Monday, a jury in Manchester was shown footage of Mr Loughley putting the baby in “mortal danger” and ignoring Genevieve’s cries and struggles until she was found pale and unresponsive. was convicted.
Mrs Justice Ellenbogen KC remanded Mr Loughley in custody for sentencing on Wednesday.
