Seven of the S&P 500’s 11 sectors ended Tuesday higher.

Seven out of a total of 11 sectors ended Tuesday’s session higher.

Utilities led the rally, limiting the day’s gain to 0.97%, followed by consumer staples and financials. Meanwhile, energy was the worst laggard, dropping 0.51%.

While all sectors are down less than 10% from their 52-week highs, the tech sector hit a new record in Tuesday’s trading.

Stocks that made the biggest moves after the bell: Urban Outfitters, Toll Brothers and more

The most volatile stocks in long-term trading are:

  • Urban Outfitters — The clothing retailer’s stock rose nearly 8% after better-than-expected first-quarter results.
  • Viasat — The carrier’s stock price fell nearly 13% after Viasat posted a loss of 80 cents per share in its fiscal fourth quarter.
  • Toll Brothers – The home builder’s stock rose more than 1%. Toll Brothers reported second-quarter earnings per share of $4.55 on revenue of $2.65 billion. Analysts surveyed by LSEG expected earnings of $4.14 per share and revenue of $2.53 billion.
