LaMelo Ball facing lawsuit for allegedly driving over child’s foot at fan event: report

NBA All-Star LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets may be facing a lawsuit, as a mother is reportedly filing a lawsuit against the NBA star and the franchise he plays for after her 11-year-old son sustained a leg injury during an alleged incident in October 2023. WSOC-TV.

Tamaria McRae claimed that the incident in question occurred during a visit to the Hornets’ home arena on October 7th. The team held a “Purple and Teal Day” at Spectrum Center that day. Some fans appeared to have gathered outside the arena while the players were leaving.

McCray said Ball was one of her 11-year-old son’s favorite players, and he wanted to get the then-NBA star’s autograph.

“[Angell] “I was like, ‘LaMelo, I love you. I love you, give me your autograph. Can you give me your autograph?'” McRae told a Charlotte television station.

McCray noticed that her son was facing the ground, but quickly realized that he had sustained some kind of injury. McRae said his son was eventually diagnosed with a broken leg, and the wound took months to heal.

The family’s lawyer, Cameron DeBlanc, said the police report did not include Ball’s name or insurance details.

“Since that information was not provided, we have only one recourse and that is the court system,” DeBlanc said.

The family argues that the Hornets organization could have taken additional security measures to improve fan safety, and therefore decided to add the team to the lawsuit.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Hornets. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Ball had not publicly commented on the matter as of Tuesday.
