Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) clashed sharply with CNN host Kaitlan Collins on Wednesday over questions about voter fraud and whether he would commit to accepting the results of the 2024 election, accusing leading Democrats of not being held to the same standard.

“I think that’s actually a stupid question,” Cruz said to Collins, who pointed out that the Texas senator objected to certifying the 2020 election results on January 6, 2021. Told. “Have you ever heard that from the Democratic Party?”

Collins replied, “Of course,” but Cruz pushed back, “What’s a Democrat?”

“I know, I know, I’ve been down this road many times,” Collins replied. “You can’t compare the two situations. We’ve talked about that, and I’ve seen the audio of them protesting on the Senate floor. Were you there?”

Cruz again fired back, saying there was a peaceful transfer of power between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, before alleging that Democrats objected to the presidential elections in 2000 and 2016. Trump has repeatedly claimed the 2020 election was illegitimate and faces federal election interference charges in connection with the January 6 attack on the Capitol, as well as state election interference charges in Georgia.

In a heated exchange with the anchor, Mr. Cruz took issue with the way Mr. Collins asked the question.

“So, I’m hearing you promise me that no matter what, the election will be held. [legitimate]”Whatever happens, it can’t happen,” Cruz said. “It’s like we have a system of election laws where people challenge elections, elections are overturned, voter fraud is proven, and it happens all the time, and the media claims there’s been no such thing as voter fraud since Donald Trump. It’s ridiculous to claim that you’re engaged in a game like this.”

She asked again if they would accept the result no matter who won in 2024.

“If the Democrats win, I will accept the outcome, but I will not ignore the fraud regardless of the outcome,” Cruz said.

Collins had previously maintained there was no voter fraud whatsoever until Cruz challenged her for making such a comprehensive assessment.

“We’re saying there’s zero voter fraud,” Cruz said.

“There was nothing that would have changed the outcome of the election,” Collins said.

“Okay, but that’s a different statement,” Cruz responded.

Collins and Cruz went back and forth over whether there was “zero fraud” in the 2020 election, with Collins demanding a yes or no answer from Cruz. I became dissatisfied with that answer.

“I think the country would be better off if we had found evidence that there was voter fraud. But the media doesn’t want to hear that and insists that voter fraud won’t happen,” Cruz said, adding that 2021 He explained why he asked the Election Commission to investigate 2019 voter fraud.

Collins pushed back, saying it was Attorney General Bill Barr who claimed there was no voter fraud, and again said he couldn’t answer her questions.

“It was CNN that relentlessly pushed that propaganda,” Cruz said. “Vote fraud doesn’t exist, and anyone who says it does is just wearing a tinfoil hat. That’s propaganda. And by the way, you’ll never ask Hillary Clinton this, you’ll never ask Stacey Abrams this, you’ll never ask Al Gore this, and they all said the replicants that won were illegitimate.”

“My question was about 2024,” Collins continued. “You didn’t answer that, but thank you so much for being on the show.”
