On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” broadcast Wednesday, Biden campaign co-chairman Mitch Landrieu said President Joe Biden “believes that American women can make decisions about their reproductive health. Donald Trump wants to give it back to the states, which, by the way, is the same legal argument they used to keep slavery alive for so long.”
Landrieu said Louisiana’s abortion pill bill “proves President Biden’s argument that he believes American women should be able to make their own decisions about their reproductive health and that Donald Trump wants to give that back to the states. This is the same legal argument, by the way, that kept slavery in place for so long. And Donald Trump’s appointment of three Supreme Court justices has given it back to the states, so Idaho, Ohio, Florida, Texas and now Louisiana are as restrictive as they can be.”
She added, “The president trusts women. Donald Trump appears to trust his congressman or his deputy sheriff more than he trusts women with their own reproductive health. And I think the American people clearly support the views of the president and the vice president.”
