Alyssa Farrah Griffin told her co-hosts on ABC’s “The View” on Thursday that former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) was a betrayal of voters by endorsing former President Donald Trump.
“I’m disappointed, but not surprised,” Griffin said. “I stopped trusting all politicians a long time ago. Maybe I’m being narrow-minded, but I don’t know if someone is going to distrust my intelligence, my family, my marriage, or my family. And even if they attack American democracy, I probably won’t go back and support that person or the military. Haley supporters feel betrayed. At first glance, we feel betrayed by you. You told us why we should fear him and now you’ve turned it around Haley. “I’ve always believed that her supporters were actually on her side. She was an aviator for something other than Trump.”
She continued, “I didn’t support Haley because I thought she was perfect. I’ve criticized her quite a bit on the show many times, but she gives me hope that the party might be slowly starting to move in the right direction. I don’t think the 150,000 people who showed up to cast a protest vote for her in suburban Pennsylvania are going to vote for Trump just because she supports him. I think they’ve always been more Never-Trump people than she is. I think it’s time for Biden to engage with them.”
Griffin added: “This is political expediency, and it’s pathetic and cowardly. She didn’t help Donald Trump, and quite frankly, she did irreparable damage to herself.”
