‘Crisis to the front gates’: GOP governor rips Biden after illegal immigrants tried to breach military base

The Republican governor has asked the Biden administration for more details about how two undocumented immigrants nearly invaded the Marine Corps base, citing “grave concerns” for the state’s security as migrants continue to flow in from the southern border. are requested to provide.

In a May 22 letter to President Biden, Virginia Governor Youngkin said he was “deeply concerned” about recent attempts by illegal immigrants to invade U.S. military land.

On May 3, two Jordanians attempted to enter Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, posing as delivery workers for an Amazon subcontractor. These individuals, who were confirmed to be in the country illegally, were directed to a holding area by police after their attempt to enter the base failed.

“The federal government has not provided Virginia with sufficient information on these issues, and the publicly available facts are disturbing,” Youngkin wrote.

“The attempted break-in at Quantico and the federal government’s silence regarding the immigration status of the individuals involved once again demonstrates the gravity of your failure to notify the Commonwealth of Virginia of illegal immigrants in order to secure our southern border and keep all Virginians safe,” he continued.

One of the Jordanians reportedly entered the country via Mexico in April and was released after receiving a summons, while the other had been staying in the US illegally since his student visa expired in 2023, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official confirmed to Fox.

“The federal government’s failure to promptly communicate and collaborate with our state partners on this issue is completely unacceptable and runs counter to the Joint Tet Rhythm Task Force (JTTF) agreement to share information,” Youngkin said in the letter.

Younkin wrote that federal partners had not been involved in incidents involving military base security for about two weeks and requested more information about the incidents.

The governor noted in his letter that this is one of at least four similar incidents that have occurred in the past month.

The letter referenced similar incidents that have occurred across the country in recent months, including an attempt by Chinese nationals to force their way into a Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center on March 27 and a driver who sped into the gates of Fort Story in Virginia Beach on April 28.

In his letter, Youngkin called on the administration to provide him and his public safety and homeland security team with a detailed briefing on the matter.

On Thursday, a 17-year-old Mexican national jumped a fence and entered Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas.

Del Rio Border Patrol agents attempted a traffic stop on Highway 90 East in the early morning hours, when a teenager escaped from the vehicle and entered the base. U.S. Customs and Border patrol A spokesperson confirmed this to Fox News Digital. The boy was then detained by Border Patrol agents.
