Iowa teen who lost everything in tornado asks for new golf clubs on TV — and scores them

An Iowa teenager who lost his home in Tuesday’s deadly tornado lamented in a television interview that his beloved golf clubs were destroyed in the disaster and he was quickly gifted a new set.

“I lost a lot of stuff, including my golf clubs,” said Bradley Gebbie, who graduated from high school two days before the natural disaster. He later told WHO-13 in a video that went viral on X.

The boy was interviewed outside his destroyed home after a powerful tornado ripped through Greenville, a small town of about 2,000 people located 55 miles southwest of Des Moines, killing at least five people and injuring dozens.

Bradley Gebbie was gifted a new set of golf clubs after lamenting on television that he lost them in Tuesday’s tornado.

“I spent about $3,000 on it,” the boy said of the golf clubs.

The boy smiled and joked, “I’d like to thank three golf equipment manufacturers: TaylorMade, Titleist, and Callaway.”

“I really need a new set. I lost mine, but I love golf,” he said, drawing a smile from the reporter interviewing him.

Sports reporter Keith Murphy shared the video on X, writing, “Hey! @Titleist @TaylorMade Golf @Callaway GolfDoes anyone here want to help this young man who lost his home in the tornado? Please let us know.”

The tweet drew replies from several golf club brands, including Callaway, who said they were willing to help the young man get a new set of clubs.

In a second post on X, Murphy said the boy, who graduated from Nodaway High School on Sunday, will be receiving a set of clubs and equipment from Callaway Golf.

“Bradley played on the Wolverines golf team and his sense of humor during tough times is inspiring,” Murphy added.

Tuesday’s tornado caused widespread devastation in a small Iowa town, leaving piles of broken trees, branches, car parts and other debris strewn across neighborhoods where homes once stood.
