A knife-wielding crazed man involved in a murder investigation attacked four young girls at a cinema on Saturday before going on a stabbing spree at a McDonald’s, wounding two more people.
The random attack began around 6 p.m. inside the AMC Braintree 10 when an armed suspect entered the complex, walked past the box office and entered one of the theaters without paying.
The suspect stabbed four girls, aged between 9 and 17, without saying a word. Braintree police said Saturday night..
The girls were rushed to a Boston-area hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
An AMC employee working at a concession stand at the time of the initial stabbing said the man was wearing an “oversized trench coat, sunglasses and a long blonde wig.” According to CBS Boston.
The man fled the multiplex in a black SUV and then drove more than 30 miles to Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he is believed to have been involved in another “similar assault” at a McDonald’s.
At approximately 7:09 p.m., Massachusetts State Police responded to the McDonald’s at Rt. 3 Park and Ride in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they found a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds.
They also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a hospital.
“Preliminary investigations suggest a link to an earlier incident at a cinema in Braintree in which four young boys suffered non-life-threatening injuries.” Massachusetts State Police said.
After failing to stop the car, the armed madman engaged in a car chase with police, culminating in a crash in Sandwich, Massachusetts.
He was taken into custody and is currently being treated for his injuries in hospital.
The suspect is also believed to be connected to a murder investigation in Deep River, Connecticut.
“At approximately 3:36 p.m., Connecticut State Police Troop F Westbrook responded to a report of a disturbance at an address within the Town of Deep River,” CSP said in a statement.
One person was found deceased at the scene, and “a suspect in this investigation is in custody in Massachusetts and there is no actual threat to the public.”
Connecticut State Police issued an alert about the suspect early Saturday morning, saying he was armed with a 10-inch knife and was “armed and dangerous,” CBS Boston reported.
