The opening of country music star Morgan Wallen’s new bar in Nashville has been delayed, days after the city council rejected the establishment’s plan to install a large sign featuring the country singer’s name.
The new venue, Morgan Wallen’s This Bar, was scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend, but TC Restaurant Group announced a postponement just before the planned opening date.
“We’re proud of our team who has worked tirelessly to prepare for the opening of Morgan Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen. Building a six-story storefront from the ground up with hundreds of team members is an enormous amount of work and a complex process,” TC Restaurant Group said in a statement to The Hill on Sunday.
“Once open, we hope This Bar will be a special experience for our guests. Unfortunately, this process will take longer and we won’t be able to open and offer that experience over Memorial Day weekend,” the statement continued. “Rest assured it will be well worth the wait, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.”
A spokesman for TC Restaurant Group said the City Council vote was a “major decision” by many council members. Said This was due to allegations of past misconduct and racist comments and was unrelated to the delayed opening.
“This is unrelated to Metro Council’s denial of aerial incursion for signage. TC Restaurant Group continues to work with Metro,” the spokesperson said.
“They are currently working through all of the complex procedures that are normally required when starting a new business. All parties involved are working collaboratively and look forward to opening soon,” the spokesperson added.
