The first round of the 2024 French Open continues on Tuesday with all matches being played from early morning through the afternoon.
Let’s take a look at some of the best bets for Day 3 at Roland Garros, using FanDuel odds as a guide.
Daniel Evans (+740) vs. Holger Run (-1250)
(Around 10am ET)
This time last year, it seemed like 21-year-old Holger Rune was destined to win a Grand Slam sooner or later, and Roland Garros seemed like the perfect tournament for him after a stellar season on clay last spring. But Rune began to struggle at the end of 2023 and has not been consistent on or off the court in 2024.
There were some big moments, such as a win over Grigor Dimitrov in Monte Carlo in early April, but they were overshadowed by messy losses, injury issues and immature performances between the lines. All of this should be normal for a 21-year-old, but Rene’s rise in 2023 has raised expectations to the point where he is being mentioned in the same breath as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. It seems the pressure has gotten a step too high for the Dane, which is affecting his performance between the lines.
In theory, Loon should have no problem facing Daniel Evans in the first round, although the Briton has never been particularly good on clay, with just one win in six appearances at Roland Garros.
That said, Evans is a competitive player, the type of player who likes to bring the ball into play and force the opposition to take extra shots. Evans certainly knows the load the Loons have on their shoulders and will do everything in his power to take this match to the deep end of the pool and force the Danes out of their comfort zone.
Ultimately, Loon should win, but he is 2-3 in his last 5 games and has a tendency to self-destruct.
Betting: Over 3.5 Sets (+102, FanDuel)
Gregoire Barrere (-102) vs. Alexander Bublik (-118)
(Around 10am ET)
It may seem odd that the odds are so extreme considering Gregoire Barrere is ranked 115th in the world and Alexander Bublik is currently ranked 17th in the world, but there is an explanation for this madness.
One of the most polarizing players on the tour, Bublik doesn’t like clay and has had little success at Grand Slams. The big-serving Bublik is also known for his cranky personality on court and for losing focus during matches. Bublik knows how to infuriate his supporters.

Bublik’s mentality will be seriously tested on Tuesday as Burrell will have the full support of the home crowd.
That being said, the talent gap between the two players is so large that Bublik seems like a pretty cheap buy, and while it’s certainly possible that Bublik isn’t interested and Barrere’s work ethic could make the difference, this could be a one-way street if Bublik shows up.
Betting: Bublik (-118, FanDuel)
