Michael Cohen is ‘MVP of liars,’ lawyer says

NEW YORK — In his closing arguments in former President Trump’s criminal trial, Trump lawyer Todd Blanche on Tuesday slammed the prosecution’s star witness, Michael Cohen, as a repeated liar and even accused him of committing perjury in his most recent testimony.

“He’s literally like the MVP of lying,” Blanche said. “He lies all the time. He’s lied to Congress, he’s lied to prosecutors, he’s lied to his family, he’s lied to his business associates.”

Cohen, Trump’s former fixer and personal lawyer, paid $130,000 in hush money to Stormy Daniels, the porn star at the center of Trump’s scandal, and has since rebelled against his former boss, saying he wants to be punished over the payment.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, has accused Trump of falsifying business records to hide the payments as part of a criminal conspiracy to influence the 2016 election. Trump has pleaded not guilty and denies any wrongdoing.

Above all, Blanche tried to convince jurors on Tuesday that without Cohen’s testimony, Trump would not have been involved in the affair and that his testimony cannot be trusted.

Branche noted that Cohen has admitted to lying under oath and has alleged falsehoods in his testimony during President Trump’s ongoing trial.

In his closing remarks, Blanche asked jurors if they were familiar with the acronym “GOAT,” which stands for “Greatest of All Time,” referring to athletes such as Michael Jordan and Tom Brady.

“Michael Cohen is very happy. He’s literally the biggest liar of all time,” Blanche said.
