CNN polling analyst Harry Enten told “News Central” on Wednesday that polling shows most voters don’t care about New York’s business records lawsuit against former President Donald Trump.
Enten said, “John, to me it feels like it started yesterday, but it seems like it’s been 44 days. I’ve run the numbers, I’ve done the math. So, let’s take a look. Do you think Mr. Trump acted illegally in the New York hush money case? I’ve been interested to see if these numbers change at all over the course of this trial.”
He added, “The short answer is, nothing has changed. During opening statements, 46% believed Trump committed illegal acts. After the prosecutors’ direct examination of Michael Cohen, it’s now 46%. The percentage of Americans who think the charges are very serious has actually fallen over the course of this trial from 40% to just over 35%. So, while 12 jurors may have made a difference, nothing has changed with respect to the American people as a whole.”
Host John Berman asked, “Do you have any ideas why?”
“The fact that most Americans don’t pay much attention to news about economic inflation, that’s number one,” Enten said.
