Rangers will be underdogs if they make the Stanley Cup Final

If the Rangers beat the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals, they will again be an unlikely team to win the championship.

According to hypothetical odds posted by FanDuel Sportsbook, the Rangers will have positive odds against both the Stars (-140 vs. +116) and the Oilers (-130 vs. +108).

The Western Conference final was tied at 2-2 with Edmonton winning 5-2 on Wednesday night.

If these odds hold and the Rangers win their remaining home game in the best-of-three series, it will be the third consecutive series in which they are listed as underdogs despite having home-ice advantage.

The Rangers could host a Game 7 against both Western Conference teams at MSG after winning the Presidents Trophy.

The Blueshirts split the season series with both teams, but three of those games were played in 2023.

They beat the Oilers in Edmonton in October, lost at home in December and in Dallas in November, but won at Madison Square Garden in February.

Igor Shesterkin has been such a big driver for the Rangers so far that TNT analyst and former defenseman PK Saban said during the interval in the second period of Game 4 that a 2-1 Panthers lead should have become 4-1, but the goaltending made the game tight.

With both conference finals tied at 2-2, the Rangers are the least likely team to win the Stanley Cup in 2024.

Dallas is tied with the Panthers at +230, the Oilers at +290 and the Rangers round out the group with +370 odds.

Coming into Game 5, the top-seeded Stars are the -134 favorites to win.

The Rangers are increasingly big underdogs for Game 5 at the Garden and have risen to +105 against the Florida Panthers at Caesars Sportsbook.

Florida is the favorite to win the series despite not having home ice advantage.

The Blueshirts look increasingly vulnerable with their three biggest stars in Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejed struggling to perform.
