A gun suspect and a passerby were shot and injured in a shootout with officers inside a grocery store near Cincinnati, police said.
Cole Run Township officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Kroger store Wednesday, and when they arrived on scene, the suspect pointed a gun at officers outside the store, said Cole Run Township Police Chief Ed Cody.

After the shootout, the suspect retreated inside the store, where a gunfight continued inside.

Cody added that both the suspect and the bystander were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. Police have not said who shot the bystander.
Latasia Sawyer, who was inside the store with her daughter, told WCPO-TV she heard gunshots and heard a store employee tell her to “run for your life.”

“People started scattering and moving around,” she said, “and then we heard more gunshots. We counted at least 20.”
