A student at a boys’ boarding school on the Connecticut coast has been charged with attempted murder after he attacked another student with an axe on May 24 and then fled the scene.
Oxford Academy principal Philip Cocchiola confirmed the attack in a statement to Fox News Digital, saying “one student is hospitalized in a stable condition and the other is in police custody.”
“Our thoughts and support go out to both families during this difficult time,” Cocchiola said.
Connecticut State Police (CSP) initially responded to a report of a man injured at an address on Boston Post Road in Westbrook, where Oxford Academy is located, around 8:30 that evening.

Investigators found the victim with “serious injuries” and transported him via LifeStar to a local hospital.
CSP said security camera footage showed the juvenile suspect assaulting the juvenile victim, and the suspect was also seen exploring the scene on foot, police said.
“The Central District Major Crimes Unit was on scene and investigating,” CPS said in a press release. “Several police dogs, bloodhounds, a CSP drone unit and other assets were deployed in an attempt to locate the juvenile suspect. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for the attempted murder of a juvenile and issued a detention order. Area law enforcement agencies were notified of these developments and provided with a description of the juvenile suspect.”
