An Ohio family vacationing at Disney World is still recovering after narrowly escaping a shooting that took place inside their Florida rental home when a man was shot outside.

The Reddy family, consisting of 14 people, were in their Airbnb in Kissimmee around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when they were startled awake by a loud noise. Kellyn Reddy told FOX35..

“We heard a horrible noise that sounded like fireworks just outside our house,” Reddy recalled.

They soon realized that bullets had, in fact, penetrated the house, leaving holes in the bedposts, the walls and even the car parked outside, as photos show.

“I was just sitting in the bathroom shaking and it was just such a shock. At the time, I didn’t even know if bullets were going to come into the house.” Reddy told WFTV..

“Every room was under attack. It was absolutely terrifying,” she said, including the bedroom where her 2-year-old child was sleeping.

Reddy estimated that at least nine shots were fired into the home.

The Reddy family was in Florida for a week-long birthday celebration at Disney World.

Reddy said he heard a loud house party next door a few hours before the shooting, so they decided to sleep upstairs just to be safe.

FOX35 reported that a man standing outside at the time of the explosion was shot but is expected to recover. The man was not part of Reddy’s group.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

“We want to arrest those involved,” Sheriff Marcos Lopez said. “This type of reckless and careless behavior will not be tolerated.”

The Reddy family left a day early, but AirBnB gave them a full refund.

“We worked so hard to plan a great trip for our family and it ended like this,” lamented Kellyn Reddy.

The company told FOX35 the shooting appears to have happened at a rental property that was not rented through AirBnB.
