Biden’s Ceasefire Proposal Isn’t ‘Meaningful Peace’, Hamas Has to Be Destroyed

In an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” that aired Friday, Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) responded to President Joe Biden’s ceasefire proposal, saying, “As long as Hamas is able to operate, there will be no meaningful peace.”

host Bret Baier asked. [relevant exchange begins around 3:50] “Senator Fetterman, just to let you know, the president approved a ceasefire proposal today… that basically stops the pursuit of Hamas, releases all the hostages, and makes it a permanent ceasefire. What do you think about that proposal?”

Fetterman responded: “I’ve been very clear. I’m going to side with Israel in this situation. I believe Hamas needs to be destroyed, and I need to side with them until they surrender completely and they go into exile or are put on trial or are removed. Either way, as long as Hamas is able to operate, there will be no meaningful peace. And if you look at the damage and the deaths and everything, that’s exactly what Hamas wants. They’ve made it so. They don’t really care how many Palestinians actually die or how much they suffer. Israel is actually more interested in minimizing civilian deaths and any kind of damage.”
