Pride Month Finally Comes For One Of The Last Bastions Of Manhood

Gamers. They targeted gamers.

We should all be used to the rainbow crowd ruining everything by now. Even ordinary Americans who don’t harbor even the slightest bit of homophobia or hatred towards other people are bound to be annoyed by the annual June barrage of rainbow logos, Pride pandering, and hyper-sexualization of everything.

But there have always been some safe havens, certain corners of the culture that have preserved the rough, masculine ways of American culture, through thick and thin.

While the games themselves have long been in danger, the old reliable Call of Duty has always been a place where boys born hours apart could come together and say horrible things to each other over voice chat.

Not anymore. The LGBT forces have won. Call of Duty is joining #Pride.

of The game has been released This month saw the release of seven new weapon skins that players can use to decorate their guns based on different letters of the intersectional alphabet: guns will be traditional pride, bisexual, lesbian, non-binary, pansexual, transgender, or asexual themed.

Additionally, some players have reported the presence of “transgender bullets” in the game that look like the transgender pride flag.

This isn’t an entirely new phenomenon — game companies have been pandering to Pride for years (though they don’t use the same Pride imagery in countries like Saudi Arabia), but this strike hits closer to home than most because of what Call of Duty once was: a maturing platform, a proving ground for boys to become men forged by the flames of competition. Not anymore. This is not your father’s Call of Duty. This is not your brother’s Call of Duty. This gamer will never play again.
