I Don’t See How the Trump Conviction Stands Up on Appeal

Fox News legal analyst Jonathan Turley said Monday on Fox News Channel’s “America Report” that former President Donald Trump’s conviction is unlikely to be upheld.

“I want to move on to the latest on Trump, because we just heard on Monday about his trial and the guilty verdict of the former president,” co-host Sandra Smith said.

She asked, “After thinking it over over the weekend, what do you think is going to happen next?”

“Few people outside Manhattan have much confidence in the New York system right now,” Turley said. “Former President Trump may have a slow slide at first on appeal, but many of us believe there could be an accumulation of reversible errors here that ultimately make it to the Supreme Court. Personally, I don’t see how this decision can be upheld. I was in that courtroom and was shocked by the court’s decision. It may not be at first, but I hope that ultimately the appeal will be successful and the decision will be overturned.”

Co-host John Roberts asked, “Could this possibly go to the Supreme Court before it goes to the New York Court of Appeals on an emergency petition?”

“I wouldn’t bet on that,” Turley said.
