Rep. Andy Kim (D-N.J.) won the New Jersey Democratic Senate primary on Tuesday and will advance to the general election to unseat Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), who was indicted in November.
Kim defeated his Democratic opponent and won with 82% of the vote.
“Just saw the news,” Kim wrote to X after the Associated Press projected her as the winner with less than 30 percent of the vote. “Thank you for this amazing win!”

“It’s remarkable what we’ve accomplished in the last eight months,” he added. “We’ve built an incredibly powerful grassroots movement, eliminated unfair voting, and changed politics in New Jersey forever. Now we’re ready to take our movement for change to the United States Senate!”
The 41-year-old, who represents the Garden State’s 3rd District and is a former State Department official in the Obama administration, launched his Senate bid last November, just weeks after Menendez was indicted on federal corruption charges.
He had already fended off a challenge for his seat from Tammy Murphy, the wife of Gov. Phil Murphy, and victory was all but assured.
Menendez, 70, announced Monday that he would run to retain his seat as an independent.
