Poll predicts some mild weakness ahead for the USD – ForexLive

According to a Reuters poll, here are the future outlooks for the US Dollar, Japanese Yen and Euro:

  • USD/JPY is expected to be around 145.00 in 12 months
  • EUR/USD expected to hit 1.08 in 6 months and 1.10 in 12 months

Reuters reported the comments from UBS Global Wealth Management.

  • “We expect the dollar to weaken overall against other currencies. If the Fed starts to cut rates, the dollar will become vulnerable and lose some of its strength.”
  • “We’re not looking for a dollar collapse, we’re just looking for a few percent drop against most major currencies.”

And Rabobank:

  • “We believe U.S. inflation could pick up again by mid-year and that the Fed’s easing cycle, whenever it begins, is likely to be very short.”
  • “So the dollar will depreciate some, but once the Fed starts cutting rates, the dollar will remain relatively strong. It won’t lose much of what it gained this year and will remain elevated.”
