Formula 1 and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have been partners for over six years.
But now this long-standing partnership is set to reach new heights as the popular sports league and leading technology company leverage AWS tools to develop an artificial intelligence-designed trophy for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix.
This first-time approach to the highly-anticipated event’s trophy is expected to encourage more creativity.

AWS was well prepared as the organization explored an F1 AI-inspired trophy. The company took inspiration from the research that helped develop the next-generation 2022 F1 car, a groundbreaking car whose design was developed using AWS cloud technology.
As for the trophy, a UK-based silversmith was tasked with blending the latest technology with F1 tradition to create this highly coveted prize.

Fans can also play a key role, as F1 and AWS will deliver a hands-on generative AI experience, giving participants the unique opportunity to design a customized trophy.

Evolving generative AI brings new game-changing elements to the world of sports
Meanwhile, F1 is working closely with AWS to better identify and resolve the root causes of technical issues that sometimes occur off-track during races. Leverage generative AI to perform root cause analysis (RCA).

“For more than six years, AWS has been an invaluable partner in revolutionizing the use of data to improve how our entire sport operates. Our worlds continue to converge as we look to innovative technologies such as generative AI to improve both the competition on the track and the off-track experience for our fans,” F1 chief commercial officer Emily Prather said in a statement.
“AWS’s commitment to innovation allows us to contribute to the growth of our sport. We’re excited to see the first-ever AI-generated trophy on display in Canada this weekend, giving fans the opportunity to show off their love of F1 by designing their own trophy.”

Practice and qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix is scheduled for June 7th and 8th, with the main event starting on June 9th.
