Pennsyvlania crossing guard, Kiara Lee, gave middle school students weed, vapes

A school security guard is accused of giving drugs to middle school students in Pennsylvania and also smoking marijuana with at least one of them.

Delaware County police arrested 26-year-old Kiara Lee on Tuesday after she allegedly provided e-cigarettes and marijuana edibles to children.

Lee, a crossing guard at Pennwood Middle School in Derby, Pennsylvania, has been seen on multiple occasions by onlookers giving drugs and e-cigarettes to at least two students.

A student witness reported Lee to school authorities after one of the students said he frequently smoked marijuana with the crossing guard.

She was known to have provided the juvenile with e-cigarettes on multiple occasions, and the student was known to be in possession of marijuana. According to WCAU.

According to the media, one of the student’s parents admitted to police that Lee had provided the student with e-cigarettes and marijuana edibles.

“We walk by every day and a lot of students see her spinning it and they’re like, ‘Oh, let me vape, let me vape,'” she said. One student told WTXF:

In addition to giving unethical “gifts,” Lee also reportedly carried on text message conversations with one of the students, sharing his experiences after consuming marijuana edibles.

Law enforcement officials strongly condemned Lee’s actions and behavior, saying it is unacceptable for anyone, especially a school crossing guard, to give drugs to a minor.

“Marijuana may not seem like a big deal to some in our community, but I think we can all agree that crossing guards should not be providing drugs to kids, even if it’s ‘just’ marijuana,” said Derby Borough President Joseph Gabe. According to WPVI.

“School Guards embody the role of public servant. They are literally entrusted with the lives of children and hold sacred positions of trust in communities across our state and nation,” said Delaware County District Attorney Stollsteimer.

“When individuals abuse that trust, it is deeply disturbing and undermines the well-being of the entire community.” Stollsteimer added.

Parents in the area were outraged when they found out about Lee’s actions.

“As a parent, it’s bad enough to have to keep your kids away from the influences, but then to have district employees selling it to your kids, it’s just insane,” Maya Bryant told Fox 29.

“It’s just horrible that we have people working on the streets trying to protect our kids and then these kids are taking drugs from them,” Marekka Dade added.

According to court records reviewed by The Washington Post, Lee was charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute drugs, two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors and two misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana.
