Hunter Biden smoked crack cocaine “every 20 minutes or so” between 2017 and 2018, a former girlfriend testified at his gun trial on Wednesday, during which he was employed to manage some of the family’s most lucrative business dealings with foreign officials.
The Biden family’s business boomed in 2017 and 2018, shortly after President Joe Biden left office as vice president.
One of the biggest deals was when Biden’s family received funds from CEFC China Energy Co., an organization with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
In 2023, the House Oversight Committee revealed that CEFC controlled State Energy HK Limited, a company linked to payments totaling $1.3 million to the Biden family. The Committee also discovered through the Biden family’s Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) that Biden family associate Rob Walker had received $3 million in wire transfers from CEFC. As a result, four Biden family members, Hunter, James, Harry and an unidentified “Biden,” received a total of $1.3 million from the $3 million wire transfer.
Hunter, who is an attorney, also received $1 million in legal fees from CEFC Chairman Ye Jianming in 2017. In addition, Hunter received a large diamond from Ye in February 2017, valued at an estimated $80,000.
According to the House impeachment investigation, the Biden family and Biden business entities received more than $15 million from individuals in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania and China. Much of the money from those transactions was funneled to Joe Biden’s businesses after he left office in 2017.
Mykola Zlochevsky, a former Ukrainian minister and founder of Burisma Holdings, paid $5 million each to Joe Biden and Hunter Biden in 2017, an FBI source said. Joe Biden’s Justice Department later charged Zlochevsky with lying about the arrangement.

“It was late at night,” she said. Hunter asked her to dance alone one last time. He was smoking something out of an unusual pipe, she recalled. “I thought it was crack cocaine.”
The prosecution showed the jury images of Kestan and Hunter from the time of their relationship. “This is a used crack pipe,” Kestan said of a pipe on the bathroom countertop that was visible in the image.
She also said she witnessed Biden using “chopsticks and a disassembled pen” to clean out a crack pipe.
According to her testimony, Biden asked her to get cash to buy the medication and gave her a code to use at an ATM via a mobile banking app.
Kestan told her he also used the same tactic with dealers, allowing them to withdraw cash directly from his bank accounts, she said.
After 10 days in the hotel, Kestan went to California but soon returned to New York. “He told me he was very stressed and trying to quit drinking,” she said.
