Hollywood star George Clooney called the White House last month to defend his wife’s work at the International Criminal Court (ICC) seeking an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Gaza war.
As Breitbart News noted, “The ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as three Hamas terrorist leaders, sparking outrage in Israel and the United States.”
Clooney’s wife, Amal Clooney, works in the field of international human rights law and worked with the ICC’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, who specifically thanked her in his public statements about the indictment. Both Israel and the United States have denied the ICC’s indictment.
Neither country recognizes the ICC’s jurisdiction and has criticized the court for equating Israel, which abides by international law, with Hamas, which does not abide by international law and has started a war.
of The Washington Post report Clooney called a senior White House aide to express his displeasure after the president rejected the ICC move: “Clooney called presidential counsel Steve Ricchetti to express concern about President Biden’s condemnation of the ICC prosecutor’s request for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant, particularly his use of the word ‘outrageous.'”
Clooney said, Fundraising Biden will skip the Ukraine peace summit in Los Angeles later this month to raise funds from Hollywood.
