Donald Trump Refers to Himself As ‘The Crypto President’ in Bid for Donations From Digital Asset Sector: Report – The Daily Hodl

Former President Donald Trump continues to promote himself as a crypto-friendly candidate in an effort to secure donations from the digital asset industry.

Trevor Traina, a technology executive, tell “I’m going to be the cryptocurrency president,” Trump said at a recent fundraiser in San Francisco, according to Reuters.

Traina previously served as the U.S. ambassador to Austria during the Trump administration.

The former president has previously voiced his hostility toward the digital asset sector: while in the Oval Office in May 2018, he reportedly instructed then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to “go after Bitcoin.” [for fraud]. “

President Trump launched a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum (ETH)-based platform OpenSea in December 2022, weeks after formally announcing his intention to run for president in 2024.

According to financial disclosure documents filed with the Office of Government Ethics last year, the former president had cryptocurrency wallets worth between $251,001 and $500,000.

And last month, Trump told a group of supporters who had bought NFTs that digital assets were “fine.” Weeks later, his campaign Announced It plans to accept cryptocurrency donations in the 2024 election.

Trump has since been convicted of 34 felony counts by a 12-judge jury in New York.
