Haley Alonso is having a great time across the ocean.
The wife of Mets superstar Pete Alonso took to Instagram over the weekend to share photos from her time spent in London, where the Mets are playing two games against the Phillies.
On Sunday, Haley posted a photo of her game-day outfit — a custom white jacket and jeans featuring Alonso’s number 20 — before heading to London Stadium, where the Mets are looking to bounce back after a 7-2 loss in Saturday’s series opener.
The 29-year-old Alonso was 2-for-4 on Saturday and is batting .243 with an .801 OPS this season.
Before Saturday’s match, Alonso asked local media some tough questions, including whether he would be happy to have a Sunday roast on another day of the week.
“Unfortunately I’m leaving on a Sunday so I’m not entirely sure. Sunday roasts are famous but are there any places that do them specially on Sundays or can you get them any time like a London roast… and what’s your top recommendation?” the first baseman said on Friday.
The reporter said he believes it’s “always OK” and suggested “putting as much gravy on it as you can.”
The Mets will have a day off after Sunday’s game before opening the season on Tuesday with a three-game series against the Marlins at Citi Field.
The team is currently in fourth place in the National League East with a record of 27 wins and 36 losses.
Mets owner Steve Cohen remains focused on the current situation and “winning games” as the trade deadline looms later this summer.
“When you make the playoffs and you’re four games away from .500, you’re happy to make the playoffs and anything could happen, we know that, but we’re still going to say, ‘Oh, that wasn’t the best outcome.’ Maybe it wasn’t what you would expect it to be, but we’ve still got a lot of games left and I think the team is starting to show signs,” Cohen said Sunday.
The Mets were sellers at last year’s deadline, trading pitchers Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer to the Astros and Rangers, respectively.
Alonso agreed to a one-year, $20.5 million contract in January to avoid arbitration with the Mets and is set to become a free agent after this season.
Alonso and his wife, Hailey, were married in 2021 and are set to celebrate their third wedding anniversary in November.
