Border Patrol agents in the Swanton Sector apprehended more than 3,000 migrants in May, setting a new record for the Canadian border region. The arrests bring the total for the year to more than 10,000, also a new record for the region.
An unofficial Border Patrol report reviewed by Breitbart Texas found that Swanton Sector agents apprehended nearly 3,000 migrants in May, the highest monthly migrant encounter count in the history of the sector, which guards eastern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and the Canadian border, and more than the annual total for any fiscal year prior to the Biden administration.

Swanton District Patrol Chief Robert Garcia posted on social media that his agents have arrested more than 10,000 immigrants so far this fiscal year (which begins Oct. 1, 2023), surpassing last year’s record-breaking total of 6,925 immigrant arrests.
Immigration arrests in Swanton have skyrocketed under the Biden administration, with Garcia reporting that April arrests exceeded those in fiscal years ’21 and ’22 combined.

Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, Swanton-area agents have arrested more than 18,000 immigrants, more than all previous years combined dating back to fiscal year 2004.
