Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s domestic support is growing amid Israel’s war with the Iran-backed Islamist militant group Hamas, according to a poll showing the country’s right-wing bloc approaching 60 seats in parliament.
Israel’s Channel 14 on Monday published the results of a Direct Polls poll showing that if elections were held now, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud party would win 26 seats, one of the party’s highest numbers since the Oct. 7 massacre, the most brutal attack on Jews since the Nazi Holocaust.
The prime ministerial position is contested between Netanyahu and his longtime rival, centrist Benny Gantz, with Netanyahu seen as the favorite to win, with an overall approval rating of 47 percent (the highest this year) and well ahead of Gantz’s 31 percent.

“Israelis know we are fighting a war for the survival of their nation, and one thing is certain: they see any attempt to topple their government and force Israel to surrender as a reason to increase, not decrease, their support for Netanyahu,” wrote Caroline Glick, a conservative American-Israeli columnist.
If you support Israel, you support Netanyahu because he is the leader the Israeli people elected. Today’s 14th tracking poll shows Netanyahu leading Gantz 47-31. The Likud Party leads Gantz’s party 26-17, and the Right-wing Religious Coalition leads the Left-wing Coalition 59-51. … https://t.co/Xa9VpAJAhY
