Donald Trump’s first rally in Las Vegas, Nevada since his New York City conviction for hush money charges was predictably eventful.
Not only were six people rushed to hospital after being exposed to extreme heat in support of the former president, but he also harshly criticized Joe Biden’s disastrous immigration policies and proposed eliminating the tip tax for the hospitality industry.
“Illegal immigration is turning around. And it’s turning around in a way that nobody’s ever seen before. They’re fighting our families, they’re totally destroying our black population, they’re totally destroying our Hispanic population. You know what else they’re destroying?” Trump told the crowd, adding, “They’re killing unions.”
“They can’t withstand this onslaught,” Trump said. “Almost 100 percent of the new jobs under the Biden administration are going to illegal immigrants. Did you know?”
And Trump gave service workers some much-needed hope.
“I’m the first person to say this, but hotel workers and people who get tips are going to be very happy because when I’m in office there will be no tax on tips or people who get tips,” he said, as the audience applauded.
“We’re not going to do that. We’re going to do that as soon as we take office, first thing, because it’s been a contentious issue for years and years and years. And you do a great service and you take care of people, and I think that would be a really well-deserved reward,” he continued.
Sara Gonzalez I’m satisfied, but I still don’t think it’s enough.
“I haven’t benefited from it, but if we can get something repealed in terms of taxes, that’s a good thing,” Gonzalez said. “Now, what’s step one, step two? What other taxes are we not going to impose? Let’s continue with that. If we can start from there and continue, then we can just use that momentum to talk about other taxes to repeal.”
