MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said on “Deadline” Tuesday that former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party are “at war against the American political system.”
“If the Biden administration has weaponized the justice system of this country to only attack Republicans and conservatives and never Democrats, I think today they’ve proven that they’re doing an absolutely terrible job of that. They’ve neglected their job and allowed the president’s son to not only be indicted, but convicted,” Maddow said.
She added: “The point of this is that the Republican criticism, Trump’s long-winded assertion that the justice system is biased against Republicans and in favor of Democrats, is a lie. I think we all know intellectually that it’s not a good faith criticism, but days like today should disprove that, right? If they were arguing on rational grounds, it would be factual. But it’s not factual. They’re against the American system of government, so it’s just designed as an attack on the American system of government. And it’s not about the facts of any individual case, including against Trump.”
