Tiger Woods will not play Pinehurst’s No. 2 course this weekend.
The 15-time major champion missed the cut at the U.S. Open after finishing seven over par in the second round.
It was the first time Woods had missed the cut in consecutive major tournaments since 2015, when he finished tied for 17th at the Masters before missing the cut in his final three tournaments.

After finishing 60th at the Masters in April, he missed the cut at last month’s PGA Championship.
Since winning the green jacket in 2019, he has not finished inside the top 20 in any major he has played in (13 straight), his longest streak since failing to finish inside the top 20 in his first six majors in 1995 and 1996.
From 1997 to 2012, he never finished in the top 20 in three consecutive majors and only failed to finish in the top 20 in consecutive majors four times.
In nine major tournaments from the 2013 PGA Championship to the 2018 U.S. Open, his best finish was a tie for 17th at Augusta, before steadily improving with sixth at the British Open, second at the PGA Championship and 15th at the Masters.
But outside of that record, he has struggled, finishing in the top 20 just four times in his last 25 majors.

Woods birdied the first hole of the tournament but bogeyed half of his final 12 holes Thursday for a 4-over 74.
He birdied the par-4 fourth hole on Friday to get briefly inside the cut line, but it didn’t last long, finishing with a 73.
The 48-year-old has struggled to compete at a high level since suffering serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident in 2021.
Woods hasn’t missed the cut at the U.S. Open since 2019. He sat out from 2021-2023 and missed the cut in 2020. His best finish at the tournament since tying for fourth in 2010 was a tie for 21st in 2012 and 2019. He has missed the cut five times in that span.

This will be Woods’ third time competing on Pinehurst’s No. 2 Course, having finished tied for third in the 1999 U.S. Open and second to Michael Campbell in 2005. Woods did not play in the 2014 tournament at the famed course.
