President Biden pulled the trigger. New 30 seconds Biden ran the ad touting his support for gun control just days after his eldest son, Hunter Biden, was convicted of a felony gun offense.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to strike down a nationwide ban on bump stocks, Biden quickly released a 30-second ad in which he also accused former President Donald Trump of being appeased by the National Rifle Association.
“When Trump was president, children were shot in their classrooms, innocent people were killed in their churches, massacres were committed at concerts — and he did nothing,” Biden said in the ad.
“He was on the side of the NRA, but I’m on your side. I expanded background checks, I created the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, and now the murder rate is going down.”
“You and your family deserve to be safe, and I’m going to fight tooth and nail to make sure you’re safe,” Biden concluded, pointing his finger at the camera.
In a 6-3 decision, the Court ruled that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) exceeded its authority when it classified bump stocks as illegal machine guns.
Trump banned the guns in 2017 after the Las Vegas massacre that left 60 people dead and hundreds injured, perpetrated by shooter Stephen Paddock, who used a bump stock to turn it into what was essentially an automatic weapon.
“Congress must ban bump stocks, pass an assault weapons ban, and take additional steps to save lives.” Biden: Following the ruling, he said: “Just send the bill to my desk and I’ll sign it right away.”
The commander in chief’s firearms hype came just days after a federal jury in Delaware convicted Hunter Biden of three felony firearms charges connected to his purchase of a 2018 revolver. Biden faces up to 25 years in prison.
