Lakers’ 2011 draft pick died of coronary heart disease, medical examiner says

Last month, former NBA point guard Darius Morris passed away at the age of 33.

Morris said, Los Angeles Lakers In the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft.

He was found at a private residence and his cause of death was ruled accidental.

of Los Angeles County Coroner The cause of death was said to be coronary artery disease.

“The effects of cocaine, hydrocodone and ethanol” are also listed as “other significant symptoms.”

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Darius Aaron Morris,” Morris’ family said in a statement at the time. “His family asks that their wishes for privacy and generosity be respected during this time of transition.”

His first NBA team also posted in his honor on social media.

“We are heartbroken by the passing of Darius Morris,” the Lakers said. Post to X(formerly Twitter) posted a purple heart and a photo of Morris celebrating the victory on the court.

Morris signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013 after two seasons with the pro team and the Lakers’ G-League affiliate, and also played with the Clippers and Grizzlies on 10-day contracts that season.

He played his final NBA season in 2014-15. Brooklyn Nets.

He played in 132 NBA games, starting 17 of them, all during the 2012-13 season.

He averaged 3.3 points per game, but his best performance was 24 points in a 2013 first-round playoff game for the Lakers against the San Antonio Spurs. It was his career-high in points, including in regular-season games.

Morris played two seasons at Michigan, setting the school’s single-season assist record as a sophomore with 235 assists, a record that has since been broken.

His average of 15 points per game in the 2010-11 season was also a team high.
