Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn pleads not guilty in fake elector case

Attorney Boris Epshteyn has pleaded not guilty to nine felony charges in the electoral fraud case that sought to overturn former President Trump’s election loss in Arizona.

Epshteyn was arraigned at a hearing in Phoenix on Tuesday, becoming the last person to be charged in the case. Fifteen others, including Trump allies former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, have also pleaded not guilty, according to the Associated Press.

Epshteyn is a Trump adviser who is accused of helping Giuliani in a plot to submit fake electors for the former president in the key battleground state of Arizona to disrupt the certification of President Biden’s victory, which Biden won by fewer than 11,000 votes in 2020.

The New York Times I got it. Epshteyn was with Trump after a jury found him guilty of 34 felony charges last month.

Arizona authorities announced felony charges in April accusing 11 Republicans and five lawyers with ties to Trump of submitting false documents to Congress that said the former president had won Arizona.

Fellow lawyer Jenna Ellis and former U.S. Senate candidate James Lamon also pleaded guilty Tuesday in Phoenix. Eastman and Giuliani have pleaded not guilty.

Arizona is the fourth state to face charges related to attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump was not charged in the Arizona case but was mentioned as an unindicted co-conspirator.
